Ultrasound examination (sonography). This can complement or even partially substitute for the whole body MRI if that is not possible - such as with metal implants or pacemakers. The ultrasound examination includes the carotid artery, heart, thyroid and abdominal organs. Leg arteries can be examined on request to eliminate any arterial or venous circulatory disorders.
Whole body magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Advances in this X-ray-free imaging technology mean that today, the entire body can be shown with great clarity within 45-60 minutes. This can detect diseases of the brain, arteries, heart, lungs and abdominal organs including the intestines. A virtual colonoscopy can be included if required, which needs some advance preparation.
Presentation of MRI results. The whole body MRI provides high-quality 3D images, which are combined to create a virtual journey through your body. Your radiologist will take you on this fascinating journey, displayed on the flatscreen TV in your room.
The biological clock cannot be stopped but it can be slowed down. Dealing with one's own ageing process calmly and with optimism is an art that has a lot to do with properly dealing with stress.
Premium skin check. This includes videodermatoscopy and is offered in cooperation with one of the leading dermatological centres in Germany. Dermatologikum is a teaching and research centre which offers many dermatological specialities and clinical trials.
General examination at a major university teaching hospital
Measurement of heart and lung function. Ergometry is an endurance test on a bicycle ergometer, which can detect impaired blood perfusion of the heart muscle. Lung function before and after exercise is also tested.

Blood and urine tests. Many dysfunctions and diseases can be detected at an early stage and apart from routine parameters (haemogram, clinical chemistry, etc.) the check-up includes sugar and lipid metabolism, modern cardiovascular risk factors such as homocystein and hsCRP, the tumour marker PSA in men and homonal status.

Early diagnosis is the best prevention. A comprehensive check-up includes extensive laboratory diagnostics, hormone status, ultrasound-based bone densitometry, ultrasound of the thyroid gland, the cervical arteries, the heart and the abdominal organs, skin check, functional analysis of heart and lung and full-body magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). These can detect individual risk factors and diseases at an early stage, when they are easier to treat.

Concluding diagnostic discussion and consultation. In the best case, none of the examinations will reveal any pathological findings. More often, certain risks in the areas of lifestyle and/or already existing hormone disorders are revealed.
With increasing age the level of several essential hormones in your body decreases. This can lead to reduced mental and physical performance, weight gain, depressive moods and sexual dysfunction. If hormone deficiency is diagnosed, MPCH will discuss with you whether a hormone replacement therapy is a reasonable approach in your individual case.

Body composition analysis. This assesses the make-up of fat, muscle, water etc in the body and is important in predicting your risk of cardiovascular diseases, e.g. heart attack or stroke.
Medical history and physical examination. You will have completed a medical questionnaire before you arrive in Hamburg, so any points arising from this will be discussed before proceeding to a physical examination.
Bone densitometry. The density of the bones is measured at the heelbone with safe and pain-free ultrasound technology and it takes only a few minutes.

If any diseases are diagnosed that require treatment, MPCH can make recommendations for further tests or therapy and can arrange an appointment without waiting list. As MPCH is part of the University Medical Centre Hamburg-Eppendorf, many specialities are available on site.
For lifestyle issues, on-going coaching can follow at the centre or in the preventive medical departments of resorts which MPCH has developed in cooperation with spa and health group Premedion.
